Now as a spirit soul we have many inherent characteristics. That means basically they are part of us, we can’t separate them from who we really are. Just like wetness is an inherent characteristic of water, you can’t separate wetness from water.

In this glass I assume there is water. I haven’t touched it but I do know one thing – it’s wet. All water is wet whether it comes from the sky, from the tap, from the Volga River; it’s all wet inherently.

So the spirit soul has inherent characteristics that will always be there. And one of those characteristics is the need for and having relationships. There is no such thing as a person without a relationship.

And when I use the word person in my presentations I’m not only referring to souls in human bodies. Again, due to our lack of understanding we conclude that people are humans, and all the other life forms – they are not. We think, “They are just dogs or cats, or cows, or flowers, or… nothing to do with people.” But it’s totally incorrect. Everywhere there is life, there is an individual soul, a person.

And every person has many relationships. And the more evolved the life form meaning the more evolved our body in which the soul resides is, the more complex the relationships.

The flowers, the plants have a very simple relationship structure. Their relationship is with the ground, the rain, the air and the pollen from the other tree, there is a relationship there, or the bee that pollinates the flower, or the bugs that live in the bark, or the bird that has the nest in the tree. But it’s a relationship. They even have a term in biology called symbiotic relationship. See, it means they kind of work together, they kind of help each other out.

So every life form has relationships. Why? Because that is the nature of the soul.

I remember one time I was driving through the state of Colorado. And it is very vast open nature. And there was this vast expanse of pasture land, over there they measure it in miles which would be multiple kilometers. And I looked and there were no animals anywhere except two horses. And they were standing together side by side, facing each other, and each one had its neck over the neck of the other one. They came together, they found each other, they have their relationship.

And not only do we have this relationship, we need this relationship. It’s basically not even a choice; it is like I need it. The soul is nourished by relationships if the relationships are correct. I will say the soul is affected by these relationships.

So these people who think they can just eliminate relationships from their life are in illusion. You can’t.
So some of these yoga paths which teach the ultimate perfection is when you become so spiritually perfect that you have no relationships and then you enter into some void condition and even lose your identity (you become nothing) or another path which is the same (you become everything). That is not true.

It is all part of a great illusion. It is unachievable; you can’t become nothing because you are an eternal spirit soul. You can’t become everything because, again, you are that same small spirit soul. So these are just fabrications, unachievable goals. And eventually you must come back to this, “I need a relationship.”

And in this world the most lonely people are those who have no relationship that gives them fullness, satisfaction, warmth, affection. Maybe they’ve got great fame and wealth, tremendous prestige, they are great renowned whatever they are, but they are lonely. Why? They’ve got everything. What do you mean? How can they be lonely? Everybody knows them, they are respected, praised, but they are lonely. Because there is no intimate loving relationship.

We are the same spirit soul whether we are famous or unknown, whether we are rich or poor, it doesn’t matter, I’m still the same spirit soul and I have the same needs.

I travelled many places in the world. People say, “Oh, it must be so wonderful, so interesting.” But really it’s all the same – people, we all have the same needs. I don’t care what country they live in, what kind of body they have, what their culture is, it doesn’t matter. The same things, spirit souls with the same needs.

So the message is the same for everybody. It’s not like this is the message for a selected group of people. This is the message for everyone.
