Question: Hell and heaven?
Answer: Well, we all understand I think hell means suffering, heaven means pleasure. So in the material world which is very vast there are higher, middle and lower planetary systems. And on these different planets life is more or less enjoyable or suffering. So there are higher heavenly planets where life is very, very enjoyable materially speaking. So one can enjoy sense pleasure on a very, very elevated level.
So when people think they are going to heaven, this is what they normally think about, “Going to the place where I can enjoy, enjoy, enjoy forever,” because that is what we want, “I want to enjoy forever.” There is nothing about God, that is about me enjoying.
So there are heavenly planets in this universe where that is happening. And if one lives a very pious life, he could take birth there for an extended length of time. But when the result of the pious activity is exhausted, then they come back down to the middle planets, to the Earth.
And then there are middle planets where life is kind of not so good, not so bad. And then there is the hellish planets where life is very dark, very much filled with suffering.
And beyond all of these there is a spiritual world which is the true heaven if you will. But there it is not all about enjoying, it is about serving in love but as a result there is pure unlimited enjoyment.
