HARE – refers to the energy of God.

KRISHNA – refers to the Supreme Person Himself. Krishna means All-Attractive. God is the most attractive Person. All attractive features are there in full in the Supreme Person.

RAMA – He who gives great transcendental pleasure to those who lovingly serve Him

Mantra as a whole is a prayer: «Oh my Lord, Oh Energy of the Lord, please let me engage in loving service to You.» It is called the Maha-mantra, which means the greatest mantra of all. It doesn’t belong to any particular sect or religion and is given for all humanity.

HARIBOL – Chant the Names of God!

NITAI – eternal; refers to Lord Nityananda.

GAUR – golden; refers to Lord Chaitanya (Gauranga).

Lord Chaitanya (Gauranga) and Lord Nityananda appeared in India 500 years ago. They came to teach people how to develop love for God by the primary process of hearing and chanting God’s Names.

GOPALA – the Supreme Protector, the Shepherd, the Friend of the cows.

GOVINDA – He who gives pleasure to the cows, the senses and the brahmans (holy people), the Shepherd and Protector.

RAMA – He who gives great transcendental pleasure to those who lovingly serve Him.

MADANA-MOHANA – He who is so attractive that He attracts Cupid.
