Ok, now, our other two mantras that we are going to learn and use are on the second mantra card, the red card. These are the mantras: HARIBOL NITAI-GAUR, NITAI-GAUR HARIBOL and GOPALA GOVINDA RAMA MADANA-MOHANA. Again, we will practice saying this to get our pronunciation correct, to get familiar with the mantras. As before, I will say, then you repeat. HARIBOL NITAI-GAUR, NITAI-GAUR HARIBOL. HARIBOL NITAI-GAUR, NITAI-GAUR HARIBOL. GOPALA GOVINDA RAMA MADANA-MOHANA. GOPALA GOVINDA RAMA MADANA-MOHANA. Ok, so, we are going to sing the mantras. This is called sankirtan, hearing and chanting.

HARIBOL NITAI-GAUR

First, I chant the manta and you listen, than you chant the mantra and I listen. Ok, do not be shy, chant out loud. We want to fill the room up with transcendental sound.

GOPALA 2

Kirtan.

So, sankirtan can be a lot of fun. You can do it anyway you like. You can use any type of music, any tune. Lord Gauranga said, “There is no hard and fast rules for chanting the Holy Names.” Everywhere in the world we find traditional songs and dances. So, it is obvious that people like to sing and people like to dance. You take that natural tendency, you add the mantras and you get the spiritual experience.

Mantra meditation is very good for family situations. Silent meditation is not, you must separate yourself from your family. But with mantra meditation the mother, the father, children, grandmother, grandfather can all come together and chant the mantras. I know families that do this every day. It makes them very nice families. Friends like to get together. Good, get together and chant mantras, spiritualize your friendship.

So, we have heard tonight a lot about transcendental sound, how it has its own power, its own potency. And simply coming into contact with this sound gives us great spiritual benefit. This is not limited just to the people who chant the mantras; it includes all who hear the mantras. And this is not limited just to people in human bodies. Everywhere where is life there is a person. So, the dogs, the cats, the birds, the bees, the trees – all benefit from transcendental sound. So, the next time you have a walk and see a little dog, go: “HARIBOL, HARIBOL”. Help him out. Pigeons perfect, they just come down, you say: “HARIBOL”. You get to chant, they get to hear. HARIBOL is an excellent way to say “hello” and “goodbye”. Your friend comes up and you say “hello”. That is nice and friendly, but that is material sound. But when they come up and you say “HARIBOL” that is completely different. Now they are in the presence of transcendental sound. So, you help them spiritually. So, that is the idea. You add it to your life and you give it to others. Silent meditation at best is all about ourselves. But with mantra meditation the more the better.

So, add it to your life, give it to others. And if you do add it to your life it will change your life in a very wonderful way.

HARIBOL!
